FSCI Receives PQA Level II Recognition
First Sumiden Circuits, Inc was a successful recipient of the Philippine Quality Award (PQA) Recognition
for Proficiency in Quality Management (Level II) in the 7th cycle of the PQA (2004). FSCI, in its initial
bid for the award, demonstrated excellence in infusing quality and productivity in the production and delivery
of its products. Based on the PQA criteria, it was able to achieve significant progress in building sound processes.
FSCI was recognized last February 22, 2005 in the 7th PQA ceremony held in the Heroes Hall of Malacañang
with Vice President Noli de Castro conferring the awards.
Prior to its participation in the PQA, FSCI laid the groundwork for high quality performance by
joining two cycles of the Oscar M. Lopez Award for Performance Excellence (OSCAR), the Lopez-group’s
version of the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award, the same criteria used by the PQA. FSCI received
one of the highest ratings for 2003 Cycle and was awarded a trip to 2004 MBNQA Conference. According to Dan C.
Lachica, FSCI President, the Oscar experience within the Lopez Group had given the company a good roadmap to follow
in pursuing its quality objectives that also allowed it to clinch the PQA award.
The PQA is the highest level of national recognition for exemplary organizational performance
given by the Philippine government to private and public sectors. The PQA Award has four (4) levels of
recognition: PQA Award-the highest award, Level III-Mastery in Quality Management, Level II–Proficiency
in Quality Management and Level I–Commitment to Quality Management. The highest level of recognition given
so far, by the PQA Institution since its establishment in 1998 is Level III.
