FSCI Joins Asian Six Sigma Summit
 


 
First Sumiden Circuits Inc (FSCI), a joint venture among Sumitomo Electric Industries (SEI), Sumitomo Corporation (SC) and First Philippine Holdings Corp. (FPHC) participated in the Asian Six Sigma Summit held in Singapore on June 27 & 28, 2006.
 
With thirty (30) case studies, six (6) interactive workshops and two (2) exclusive study tours, the Asian Six Sigma Summit 2006 was the most comprehensive conference on Six Sigma and Quality held in Asia. This year, the conference delivered ideas and insights useful to companies in driving quality programs. It presented case studies on getting commitment and buy-in from business leaders to get the support needed for Six Sigma projects. Leading authorities in Six Sigma presented shared their expertise in the conference. Dr. Mikel Harry, one of the original architects and pioneers of Six Sigma at Motorola and founder of the Motorola’s Six Sigma Research Institute, was the conference’ Keynote Speaker. Reiko Tanaka, General Manager of Sony Six Sigma Office, Alexis Goncalves Director of Citigroup and Peter O’ Malley, Six Sigma Deployment Champion of Ford, were among the well-known Six Sigma practitioners and experts who shared their insights.
 
FSCI’s President, Dan Lachica, was a panelist in the discussion entitled “Leadership in the Push for Customer-Focused Quality” together with the CEO’s of HSBC Asia Pacific and Allianz Insurance Management. The discussion focused on getting dedicated commitment from leadership to lead the change and drive Six Sigma into the organization. Mr. Lachica shared FSCI’s practical examples on making Six Sigma its key platform for systematic process management to improve its sigma level from 2.7 in 2001 to 3.6 in March 2006 and generate savings amounting to about US$ 2M. Joyce Foronda, FSCI’s Six Sigma Facilitator joined Mr. Lachica during the conference.
 
Dr. Arthur De Guia, First Philippine Holdings Corp.(FPHC) Managing Director Manufacturing & Portfolio Investments Group, also presented a paper on “The Challenges of Rolling Out Six Sigma and other Business Excellence Initiatives Across a Diversified Group of Companies.” Dr. De Guia presented the Lopez Group’s experience in devising and implementing strategic business excellence program throughout a diversified conglomerate with core investments in broadcasting, manufacturing, power, property and real estate, telecommunications and tollways.
