FSCI Receives PQA Level III Recognition
Exemplifying once more its commitment to performance excellence, First Sumiden Circuits, Inc. (FSCI), a joint venture among Sumitomo Electric Industries (SEI),
Sumitomo Corporation (SC) and First Philippine Holdings Corp. (FPHC), was a successful recipient of the Philippine Quality Award (PQA) Recognition for Mastery in
Quality Management (Level III) in the 9th cycle of the PQA (2006).
FSCI, in its 2nd bid for the award, demonstrated excellence in infusing quality and productivity in the production and delivery of its products. Based on the PQA criteria,
FSCI demonstrated innovation, excellent deployment and good to excellent performance levels in most areas of its business processes. FSCI was recognized on December 19, 2006
in the 9th PQA Ceremony held in Heritage Hotel and joined NYK, Panasonic Mobile Communications, Intel Philippines Mfg. Inc., and Integrated Microelectronics, Inc. who achieved
this distinction since the inception of PQA in 1998. No company has achieved the PQA (Level IV).
FSCI’s most important strengths and outstanding practices include the integration of its strategic objectives with the Leadership System through the Balanced Scorecard, regular
review of its plans and targets, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Self-Assurance, and scripture-based values formation, among others.
Two years ago, FSCI received the PQA Level II for Proficiency in Quality Management during the 7th Award Ceremony which was held in the Heroes Hall of Malacañang Palace. Prior to
its 2nd application in the PQA, FSCI joined three cycles of the Oscar M. Lopez Award for Performance Excellence (OSCARs). The Oscar experience within the Lopez Group had given the
company a good roadmap to follow in pursuing its quality objectives and also allowed it to clinch the PQA Level III.
The PQA is the highest level of national recognition for exemplary organizational performance given by the Philippine government to private and public sectors. The PQA Award has
four (4) levels of recognition: Philippine Quality Award-the highest level, Level III-Mastery in Quality Management, Level II–Proficiency in Quality Management and Level I–Commitment
to Quality Management.
FSCI is committed to join in the 11th cycle of the PQA with only one end in mind—the PQA.
