FSCI BAGS LOPEZ ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
BUSINESS MANAGEMENT CATEGORY

FSCI, exhibiting once more its winning form, received the Lopez Achievement Award-Business Management Category in the Business Excellence Awards Ceremony held in ABS-CBN on August 18, 2010. FSCI proved its resilience and achieved breakthrough profitability in 2009 amidst extreme business conditions. The world financial crisis that started in the last quarter of 2008 brought a negative growth to the semiconductor and electronics industry in the Philippines and the whole world as a whole suffered negative growth in all product sectors. Using the Balanced Scorecard as its leadership framework, the company’s strategies were anchored on the 4 perspectives: 1. profitable growth, 2 customer focus, 3. Organizational excellence, and 4. Learning and growth perspective. The alignment of these strategies steered the company towards a successful business turnaround. FSCI’s improved productivity and efficiency, faster and more effective potential problem-solving and analysis and consistent practice of Ho Ren So (Report, Update, Consult) enabled the company to generate profits 25% higher than 2008 with the same sales in US$ but 20% higher in unit volume. Major customers retained FSCI as a priority supplier when they cut down on their number of sources for flexible printed circuits. According to its president, Hisahiro Miyake, FSCI leaders were on top of the situation because they knew their gemba, the production line, the workplace. He often reminded his staff that the truth is always at Gemba! Knowing this truth spelled the success of its business turnaround. FSCI employees worked hand-in-hand for business survival to overcome the challenges of the global financial crisis. This led to its achievement of the prestigious Lopez Achievement Award.
