First Sumiden Circuits, Inc ( FSCI) shared its best practices in implementing the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) during the Philippine Semiconductor & Electronics Convention & Exhibition at the SMX Convention Center on June 2, 2010. Over 500 professionals, managers, directors and executives from leading semiconductor and electronics companies in the Philippines joined the annual convention, organized by Semiconductor & Electronics Industry of the Philippines, Inc. (SEIPI).
Dan Lachica, FSCI’s former President, presented the overview of the Balanced Scorecard in two of the convention’s learning sessions namely, High Tech Industry Forum on Supply Chain Management and Transforming HR Management as a Key to Business Success. FSCI’s Strategy Manager, Aleth Pablo, presented the company’s BSC implementation during the Supply Chain Forum for Purchasing, Finance & Traffic Managers while Jun Mayo, HRD AVP highlighted BSC’s Learning & Growth perspective in the forum for HR practitioners.

FSCI has been implementing the BSC, a management system designed by two Harvard-based professors Robert Kaplan & David Norton focused on creating value through strategic activities, as its leadership and performance framework since 2003. Over the years, FSCI has aligned its performance evaluation, reward system and performance reviews with the principles of the BSC. As it provided the needed framework to mobilize all resources and activities to align with the organization’s strategies, FSCI was able to achieve breakthrough results including a business turnaround in 2009 and achieving record-breaking profit in the midst of global financial crisis.

First Philec Solar Corp., another member of the Lopez Group, also presented their implementation of the BSC in the same conference. HR Manager Lani Gomos and Strategy Manager Camille Gargantiel were at the forefront.
